Description

Firebrick is a kind of brick that can withstand high temperatures, used to line flues, stacks, furnaces, and fireplaces. In general, such bricks have high melting points that range from about 1500°C. They also should resist the chemicals in slag and not spall. Firebricks are not good insulators, so a special insulating firebrick of highly porous has low conductivity and low heat content but a low melting point of only about 850°C1500° C. Refractory mortar is required to bind firebricks together.
